We asked you to show and describe your vineyard, looking for the most lovely and picturesque farm to produce grapes and olives in Farming Simulator 22.
While working on new content and announcements, preparing for events like FarmCon, and countless other obligations, we poured ourselves some delicious grape juice and evaluated your creations, looking at all the details. Now, the winyards are chosen.
Even though describing a place as "idyllic" is usually inflationary exploited by the tourism industry, it fits the rustic, little vineyard by Vectorman. If you take a close look, you can see all those nooks and crannies of the terrain that's occupied by grapevines, rustic old buildings, curved paths up the hills and some carefully placed decorations and objects.
But more than that, Vectorman created a beautiful backstory with his description of the vineyard and brought a character to life, we can't even see in person. But, there's the spirit of the "Father of Vines" in there, represented in the memorial we can see in front of the farm.
Victoire Maîne D'Haut-Beyleron sounds like a really cool dude with tales to tell.
It is said that beauty lies in simplicity and tranquility. A statement, you could print on some postcards or caption some paintings with. Those could look like the submissions by Ola, who sent in some picturesque farming motives. While the motives themselves are pretty simple and depict a hilly grassland with some grape farming going on, the devil, making second place, lies in the details.
Extremely atmospheric lighting and subtle color grading, and giving the scenery more space by choosing an extra-wide format, creates a visually impressive landscape. But, take an even closer look: Instead of just putting a cropped picture on a white background, you can see a texture - as if the pictures were printed on canvas, ready to hang them on the wall in the living-room.
There was potential to deepen this artistic feeling with the description - instead we got a rather sorrowful backstory with a grandfather, whose fate is quite sad - but that's life. That's authentic. "Mountain Grew" sounds delicious, by the way.
Stone Hill sounds very inviting, certainly worth the drive if it was a real place - after all, we are promised a complimentary tour with juicy tastings. In the spirit of selling us a fake vineyard as a vacation spot, Emil did a great job of creating an attractive composition that could be sold as postcards at the entrance.
Apart from the historic backstory of Stone Hill and the overall fancy composition, we also see a nice looking farm in the pictures. Telling us of a restaurant, offering German cuisine, that's build into what used to be a carriage house, is a nice little addition to the lore of this nonexistent place. It got a nice view of the vines, too. Lighting and atmosphere really create the desire to visit Stone Hill to enjoy a relaxing vacation with juice tastings and hiking tours through the landscape.
We'd visit.
B&B Le Coccinelle by Nicko 87 - Look at this lively place! And the seemingly popular dress of the women - who wore it best? (Fun fact: Nicko 87 managed to be the actual 87th submission. Not, that this is important...)
Hilton Farms, by John - There was definitely not enough cheese featured in this contest! Cheese and... juice - it's a proven combination of delicious sensations in your mouth.
Peaceful nature, by Joshua - Not enough animals featured, either. So, bonus points for the deer! Bit heavy on the blur. Too much grape juice?
Hotel Vignoble Brudo by Patrick - This hotel looks and sounds quite nice. Why has it only three stars? Where is the catch?
Greetings from Italy, by Matteo & Sam - What a lovely invitation to visit the hills of Italy. Finding a place where pets are not only allowed but invited - how nice.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Vineyard Contest. We enjoyed your submissions - there were a lot of nice pictures and stories.
Thanks to NVIDIA for sponsoring the contest with an RTX 3060 Ti and congratulations to the winners! We hope you had fun showing off your vineyards!
