We Celebrate 15 Years of Farming Simulator + 2.5 BILLION Mods Downloaded

April 14, 2023

Remember, when Farming Simulator started out as a niche title for agricultural enthusiasts? That was 15 years ago, in 2008. Think about that. The series has come a long way since then. On that note, let us celebrate 15 years of Farming Simulator!

Happy Birthday, Farming Simulator!

Over the course of more than a decade after the release of the initial game in the series, we expanded the Farming Simulator with many new and exciting features, brands, and machines. That wouldn't have been possible without you, of course.

“We have to express our gratitude to all the fans who joined the ride over the years”

Christian Ammann, CEO of GIANTS Software

After Farming Simulator 2008 and 2009, we introduced multiplayer in Farming Simulator 2011, and the mobile branch of the series with Farming Simulator 2012. Followed by consoles versions with FS13, the Farming Simulator League with FS19, or crossplay-multiplayer in FS22. In between all that, we added all those brands you love - starting with Fendt, over John Deere to Volvo and many others.

“We thank especially those, who have been with us since the beginning, and all the talented, engaged fans who created an almost unfathomable amount of user-generated content. Rest assured, we will continue to make Farming Simulator even greater in the future, together with you and our partners.”

More and more gameplay mechanics and layers got added, with Farming Simulator 22 currently offering the ultimate virtual farming experience with seasonal challenges, production chains and many other features. But, of course, that's not all that Farming Simulator had to and continues to offer, because ...

2.5 Billion Mods Got Downloaded

Yeah, you read that right. It's BILLION - with a capital B in front. While we continue to bring you more free as well as paid content, you yourself expand the Farming Simulator universe with user-generated content.

2.5 Billion mods have been downloaded over the course of the series and multiple platforms via our official mod channel. Once again, we thank all our dedicated modders out there! Maybe we meet at this year's FarmCon to chat? If you're coming, say hello!

Of course, we still continue to not only curate, but actually test your creations in our internal QA department to offer them on our official in-game ModHub. If you want to know, how we actually test your mods, take a look at the following look behind the scenes!
